Maison Cire Trudon: The only royal & oldest wax factory in France
It all began with Claude Trudon , the founder and namesake of Maison Cire Trudon. He once ran a modest shop in the Rue Saint Honoré in Paris. There he sold not only groceries but also candles and spices, his real passion. As a passionate wax maker, he initially sold his candles to private customers and church communities. The founding of the family factory was the beginning of increasing fame. His son Jaques, who was also a candle maker and druggist, brought the small candle factory to the attention of the royal family. Jaques worked as a pharmacist and brandy distiller on behalf of Queen Marie-Thérèse and was a frequent guest at court.

In 1700, the Trudon family was ennobled by the king for their highly esteemed achievements, and shortly afterwards the family factory was awarded the title of the first and only royal wax factory in France . Used as lighting for all kinds of festivities, the luxurious scented candles survived the French Revolution, and despite increasing modernization, Cire Trudon candles have not lost their popularity. In 1889, they were awarded their first of many gold medals at the World Exhibition. From April 1929, the oldest wax factory in the world was considered a historical monument , which can still be visited today.

The traditional savoir-faire of French candle-making masters is evident in Cire Trudon's quality candles. Only certified plant and beeswaxes, along with natural and a few synthetic raw materials, are used in the exclusive candle compositions.

Recovered from the regional beehives of Normandy , the fine wax is cleaned and bleached in several baths before being cut into strips and dried outdoors under the sun.
The brand not only stands for exceptional quality , but also for loving handcraft . After the wicks have been aligned in the glass containers, the fine, shiny wax is poured in by hand. Shortly beforehand, it was mixed with the fragrance so that it can develop its full potential right up until the end. During the hardening process, the wicks are centrally aligned again by hand. Finally, the surface of the candle is made even and uniform by gently melting it.
The scents of Cire Trudon's luxury candles , named after personalities from the Baroque era, are created by exquisite perfumers. The elegant glass vessel, based on a champagne bucket, is made in the Italian city of Vinci. With a variety of colors ranging from graceful dark green to majestic red and royal blue to puristic white containers, the luxurious character of the exclusive scented candles is underlined. The beehive emblem is inspired by the bas-relief of the royal wax factory and represents the appreciation of its roots - under the sign of the bee, Cire Trudon's luxury candles not only stand for excellent quality, but also an awareness of the environment .
Regular fragrance tests ensure ideal burning . During the burning tests, the fragrance output is determined depending on the heating and the wick is adjusted accordingly so that a pleasant fragrance strength is always emitted.
The wick made of pure cotton is particularly strong and enables clean burning and constant luminosity . The high-quality scented candles from Cire Trudon are characterized by an above-average burning time of 55 to 60 hours .

We want you to enjoy your intense fragrance experience with Cire Trudon's luxury candles for a long time . That's why we've listed a few expert tips here on how to care for your very special scented candle and how you can avoid it going wrong:

Let your Cire Trudon scented candle burn until the entire wax surface is liquid .

The first third of the candle should burn for a maximum of 3 hours at a time. The remaining two-thirds of the candle should only burn for 1-2 hours at best.

Please always let your scented candle burn under supervision and keep it away from curtains, animals and children.

Choose a location protected from air and with a flat surface.

Only straighten a displaced wick while the wax is still melted.

For optimal burning, the wick should always be shortened to approx. 6 mm to prevent soot formation.

Do not let your Cire Trudon scented candle burn down completely . There should still be about half a centimeter of unmelted candle material above the bottom.

Make sure that you cover your candle with a glass bell or something similar after burning to protect it from dust.
