Autumn is a season of change - not only in nature, but also for our skin. The cooler temperatures and dry heating air present our skin with new challenges. Now is the ideal time to adapt your skincare routine to the needs of the fall season and pamper your face with the right essentials. But what should you pay particular attention to in the fall?
When the air gets colder outside and the heaters are on inside, the skin loses moisture. A rich, moisturizing moisturizer is therefore an absolute must in your autumn routine. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin bind moisture and help to keep skin looking plump and healthy. Combine this with a nourishing cream containing ingredients such as ceramides or shea butter to strengthen the skin barrier and protect it from drying out.
While light gel or fluid textures are just the thing in summer, it's okay to go a little richer in fall. Oil-based serums or facial oils are ideal for the cooler months. They help to lock in moisture and provide the skin with important nutrients that it particularly needs now.
In the fall, the skin tends to flake faster and look paler due to the dry air. Regular exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and restore the skin's radiance. However, make sure you choose a gentle exfoliator so as not to irritate the skin further. Products with fruit acids (AHAs) or gentle enzyme peels are the perfect choice here. They stimulate cell renewal and ensure a fresh, smooth complexion.
Even if the sun doesn't shine as brightly in the fall as it does in the summer, you should never neglect sun protection. UV rays are present all year round and can cause skin damage even on cloudy days. Sun protection with at least SPF 30 should therefore remain an integral part of your daily routine.
Our lips and hands are particularly susceptible to dryness in the fall. Lip balm with nourishing ingredients such as beeswax or shea butter as well as hand creams with moisturizing oils should always be to hand to prevent chapped skin. A little tip: apply a thick layer before going to bed to achieve an intensive care effect overnight.
